I graduated from Portland State University with a masters in Writing/Publishing. The last two years have been a bit of a whirlwind, but now that I’m out of grad school I’m looking forward to taking a bigger role in the publishing world, not to mention having more time to write.
I currently work as a social media marketer for RainTown Press. I manage the blog and social media, and even help out in the acquisitions department now and then. It’s a small press that publishes Young Adult and Middle Grade novels, exclusively, and our first book, Spartacus and the Circus of Shadows, comes out in October.
Prior to RainTown, I interned at Bowler Hat Comics and worked for Ooligan Press, the publishing house associated with my graduate program. Skill-wise, I’m a generalist, but I specialize in young adult books. I dapple in traditional marketing and design, but my real passion is developmental editing, and social media marketing. I really believe in the future of the publishing industry, and I can’t wait to see the changes that will take place over the next few years. It’s an exciting time to be part of the industry.
I’m also a fiction writer, primarily of (unpublished) young adult novels. Now that I’m out of grad school and have a bit more time, I’m going to start polishing things up for submission, and including the occasional teaser here. If you’re interested in reading more of my work, I can be contacted at lucy.softich [@] gmail.com .
